My Background in Photography

I first picked up a camera when I was about eight or nine years old (around 1961/62). It was a twin lens roll film camera. I bought (or more likely, was bought) a roll of black & white film and I would go off taking shots around my local area, I'd been bitten by the photographic bug. That camera always went with me on holidays. Sadly I do not have any images from that period.

I purchased my first SLR in 1973 and with a 120 Yashicamat TLR. In 1977 I had my first tenuous dabble into Pro Photography by covering a friends Wedding.

In 1983 I moved to the Lake District; working in an Art Centre specializing in Social Documentary Photography. After a few years I went to college for three years studying Commercial, Industrial and Design Photography. Then came the giant leep into Full Time Professional Work which I have done for many years.

After qualifying as a teacher, I now work in Photographic Education.

Micro Landscapes
When the weather is a bit inclement and the lighting somewhat flat for normal landscapes I go in close and look at smaller parts of the landscape.
